Our New Spring Collection, Block Printed in Bagru

Hand carved block on top of printed bandana

Back to Basics - if we could describe our newest spring collection, that's how we'd describe it. No, we don't mean plain tees or blue jeans, but rather, back to earthy tones and "minimal" prints that complement an array of looks and styles.

Earlier this year, in January, we traveled to Bagru, India and sampled five of our newest bandanas and our Sharon Top + Dress. We met with Shyam, the master behind the prints, and came up with our newest collection together.

So, what differentiates block printing in Bagru from everywhere else? Why is it worth mentioning? The region of Bagru is known for printing with natural dyes, such as tamarind seeds for the mustard yellow and limestone powder for the indigo.

Block printing bandanas

Block printing bandanas
Blocks carved by hand. Printed by hand. Washed by hand. Dried in natural sunlight. No two pieces will ever be a like, but that's art and makes each piece that more special.
