As a young girl growing up in India with 4 sisters and 1 brother, my mother, Farida, loved creating clothes for her siblings from fabric around the house. It has always been her passion to sew dresses together and come up with styles she couldn’t find in stores or from other brands.
Years later, after having moved to the U.S. and having a family, she started Mila Trends, which years later became From Mila. After I, Nargis, her daughter graduated, from Academy of Art with a degree in fashion, I joined her in creating this business, and it’s been a mother-daughter duo ever since.
We are a slow fashion family business. We design and create one-of-a-kind pieces that are hand block printed with hand carved wooden blocks. Once we have finished designing and coming up with our next collection, we travel to India and work with our artists to transform the designs into the breathtaking prints you see on our site.
Everything we do comes from our hearts, and from our family's history. This is reflected not just in the art of hand block printing, but even in our name. Mila, is the first two and last two letters of our last name, Mithaiwala. Everything we design is created with love, and from our family to yours.
